Paula Maute, LICSW
Paula Maute, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW–Mass.), helps clients explore relationship struggles, anxiety, loss, and career challenges. Her work is informed by a deep awareness of how racism, sexism, classism, antisemitism, ageism (and other ‘isms’) shape our lives. She creates a safe space for clients to explore their feelings—from rage, frustration and mistrust to love, hope and joy—by incorporating the Humanistic approach, which taps into our innate intelligence, self-knowledge, flexibility, and creativity. Her toolkit also includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which examines how our thoughts, beliefs and feelings shape our behavior, and vice versa. She encourages clients to identify their strengths and passions, set goals and build self-esteem. Paula holds a Master’s degree in Social Work (SUNY Albany) and a BA in Psychology and Peace Studies (Syracuse University). Her experience includes social work, journalism, academic coaching and editing. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors—biking, swimming, kayaking, skiing, and hiking.
